Spring Public Virtual Meeting

Spring meeting an online affair

As it has done with so many aspects of life, the coronavirus caused big changes to the Regal Heights Residents’ Association annual spring meeting. The meeting, usually held in May, was postponed in hopes that the pandemic would ease enough for some sort of in-person get-together. That was not to be.

So on June 16, the RHRA hosted a virtual meeting, open to anyone in Regal Heights. Instead of the traditional format, the association decided to make it a largely social affair.

The turnout was modest, but the meeting was fun. Chairman John Keating recapped a few of the projects the RHRA is working on, including setting up a mutual help group to ease the challenges of the pandemic. The RHRA relies entirely on volunteers and Keating encouraged residents to get involved, even if it is only a few hours a year.

Julie Dzerowicz, the Member of Parliament for Davenport, was among the guests. She briefly outlined some of the federal resources available to help people get through the pandemic.

But most of the meeting was devoted to socializing – something that is sorely missed by many people in Regal Heights.

The RHRA is now on summer break. The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, September 15 at 7 pm. Watch your email for details closer to the date.
