We have received a notice from the office of Councillor Ana Bailão about the creation of a new traffic management committee for the Regal Heights area. This is a great opportunity for members of our community to work with the City to ensure we have the right infrastructure in our area to ensure proper safety and quality of life.
Please see the note from Ana’s office below. Please contact Nicholas directly if you wish to be on the committee or if you have any additional comments.

Message from Councilor Ana Bailão’s office
Neighbourhood streets do a whole lot more than simply accommodate flows of automobile traffic, cyclists and pedestrians. Streets are public spaces where neighbours meet. Let’s join together to discuss local streets and transportation issues in the neighbourhood. Through the process we will help make the area safer and hopefully build a stronger sense of community!
Our office has been working to create a Traffic Management Committee. It will be composed of area residents that will work with our office, City Staff and the broader community to take a holistic look at traffic safety issues within Regal Heights. We have tentatively outlined this neighbourhood area as being bounded by Dufferin, St. Clair, Winona and Davenport.
You are invited to our committee formation meeting; which is scheduled to take place on January 20th, between 6:30-8:30pm at Regal Road Public School (95 Regal Road) in Room 5 (music room).
At this initial meeting, we would like to work with you and City staff on the following topics:
- Defining the study area
- Review community concerns: what we have heard already; what’s already being done
- Add and prioritize other concerns
- Identify street reps
- Nominate: chair, vice chair and secretary
- Set goals
- Go over the process
- Schedule our first working sessions
Join Councillor Bailão and your neighbours to work on this important local initiative! Please take a moment to RSVP by email to Nicholas at the address below.
Happy New Year everyone!

I am happy that this committee is being struck. I think it is so important. Having lived in this community for 30 years I have seen the traffic flow change quite dramatically over the years. Oakwood Avenue between Davenport and St Clair has become increasingly congested with cars, traffic. I am deeply for this reason with other reasons about the use of the crosswalk at Oakwood and Rosemount. I often walk down Oakwood or get off the bus at Oakwood and Rosemount or Burlington Crescent as many people do each day with children, with parcels, with dogs and given the increased traffic I feel it is imperative that there be a light at this intersection. I appreciate the fact that there is now a crossing guard for schoolchildren but I do not feel that is enough given the foot traffic at this corner.
I was told that a light was in the process of being approved. I am wondering what is holding this most important initiative from happening.
thank you
