The Regal Heights Residents’ Association received some sad news earlier this week. Dick Watts, who along with his wife Florence was the driving force of the association for more than 30 years, has died.
Dick passed away on Thanksgiving morning at the age of 93.
His passing is a loss to the association and to the community he helped to build. Dick was involved in the creation of many of the things we enjoy in Regal Heights today, from the springtime beauty of Daffodil Hill to the annual Christmas Carol Sing. He forged a strong relationship between Regal Heights and City Hall, advocating on our behalf on issues ranging from planning problems, to tree planting to litter pickup.
But one of his biggest contributions was the building of community spirit. He forged a network of people who are deeply involved in the life of the community and he leaves behind a friendly neighbourhood where people know each other and care about their surroundings.
If you’d like to pay your respects, there is a visitation and service this Sunday afternoon. Details are below.
So long, Dick. We’ll all miss you.
